     he was reared in farming, working for his parents until 17, at whichtime he became a clerk in his fathers' hotel in Shenandoah and wasthus engaged for 15 months. Later he clerked at ST. Clair for hiselder brother Danial S. for 1 yr and 1 yr for his brother-in-law JohnMullen. in march of 1892 he went to Stella, Cowlitz County,Washington, where he was on a cattle range for 4 months. In July of1892 he was in Hot Springs Ark. Returning to Pa he followed rairoadingas brekeman on the Reading Road until 1907. then turned to mining, Forsome years he and his wife lived in Frackville, moving to Leek Kill in1909. He was a member of the Luthern Church, and held membership inFrackville Lodge, No. 823, I.O.O.F. He and his wife had no Children.
