Gotfried Leitzel came from Berks, County, to Northumberland Countywhen a young man, locating
in what was then know as Mahanoy Towship.He was a farmer, and was the first to obtain a warrent
from the Statefor the 300 acre tract he owned in what is now Jordan Township.Stock, however,
was the industry in which he took the greatestinterest, and he prided himself on keeping strong,
valuable cattle,havin big, fine horses, and as many as fifty sheep at a time, andnumber of
cows. He and his wife magdalena are buried at the HebeChurch in Jordan Township. |
